NASA MSFC/Moon Express Space Act Agreement
NASA MSFC/Moon Express Space Act Agreement Annex
“This Annex shall be for the purpose of MSFC providing support to Moon Express, Inc. (MEl) in their efforts to design, develop, integrate, and test their Guidance Algorithms for a terrestrial lander. The MEl provided algorithms will be integrated into the existing Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Software on-board MSFC’s Warm Gas Test Article (WGTA) and used to perform a hazard avoidance test series.”
“Partner agrees to reimburse NASA an estimated cost of $31,500.00 for NASA to carry out its responsibilities under this Annex.”
It good to see that NASA has found a use for this small lander. It uses hydrogen peroxide as a mono-propellant.
It can only carry a light weight payload, currently a 3D camera.
A small reusable lander, whose fuel can be made from local water, could have several uses on the Moon and Mars. As well as landing tiny probes, it can be used to photograph crevasses and the sides of craters – possibly as part of building a road. Spare parts can be flown from the base to astronauts and cables strung over craters.
