Does *Anyone* Know What A SLS Launch Actually Costs?
Last week #NASA SLS manager John Honeycutt disagreed with the @NASAOIG $4 billion/launch estimate for @NASA_SLS If he says it is not $4b then he must know what the real cost is, right? otherwise how can he say it is not $4b? #AskNASA pic.twitter.com/mYyChQEVHc

The launch cost is way too much money.
Even if it works 100% as hoped, how can NASA afford 4.1billion + a launch. Orion capsules costs are insane. 1 billion for a capsule ? The 4.1 billion + does not include any lunar systems. Based on 4.1 billion+ per launch, any lunar base is almost 20 billion in launch vehicle costs alone! It cost more to launch than build the payload?
That is nuts!
IG gave pretty good details. Only question is how to calculate/amortize it and what to include. Its between 2 and 8 billion dollars a flight.
possible answers …
1) $n, or
2) $(x+iy)
Definitely 2). The imaginary part is very relevant.
$4.1 BILLION PER LAUNCH?
Criminal expenditure of tax payer money.
KILL SLS. Now.
I know exactly how much it costs, It costs too darn much, especially for a launch vehicle that was supposedly designed to use existing technology.
