“He also led our Committee admirably through the years following 9-11 and through investigations of the tragic Space Shuttle Columbia accident. Congressman Boehlert represented the best of what the American people should expect from their legislators: integrity, fairness, openness to diverse perspectives, and a determination to do what is right, even when it put his own political career at risk.”

Sherry Boehlert was part of a cohort of GOP reps in Upstate New York who easily garnered votes from Democrats and Republicans alike, because they put their communities and country before any ideology. It’s been some years since the likes of Boehlert, Barber Conable, and Frank Horton graced the halls of Congress, but we remain a better country for their dedicated public service for the benefit of all. RIP

It certainly is that Mr Boehlert was very accomplished and dedicated. I’m sorry he’s gone.

He was of sound mind and character. Two traits that are as rare as civility in today’s world.
