Tornado Damage At NASA Michoud

Tornado Recovery Underway at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility
“At this time, emergency personnel have identified damage to building numbers 103, 350 and additional structures. Building 103, Michoud’s main manufacturing building, has roof damage in several areas. Approximately 200 parked cars were damaged, and there was damage to roads and other areas near Michoud.”

    I lived in Louisiana (Baton Rouge) for many years finishing undergraduate then grad school. Twisters are extremely uncommon there, and for lots of good reasons having to do with the geography.

      They are rare. This tornado was even more rare in that it was very wide, like f2/f3. Never seen one that fat around here. A couple facebook links. In the first, the two pictures after the police car are whats left of a Shuttle Hydrogen tank. Crushed a couple cars in transit to this resting spot:

      This one shows more. The main 103 building didn’t suffer much damage. I don’t think any SLS hardware or tooling was damaged, unless it was in the VAB. Lots of new skylights in that building.
