Keith’s note: There will be a 30 minute hybrid meeting today (17 March) at 4:30 pm EDT between Acting NASA Administrator Janet Petro and her staff, the NASA Trump Administration political appointees, and DOGE. DOGE employees Scott Michael Coulter, Riley Sennott, and Alexander Simonpour will be attending. As I previously noted there will be a NASA RIF Tiger Team Rollout Meeting at NASA HQ tomorrow (Tuesday 18 March).

Going thru the rumor mill from folks who are familiar with the RIF plans, the layoffs “will be minimal”
*Trying to be a little hopeful here.
I hope you are right and that what I am hearing is wrong 😉
I have also heard the same, for God’s sake, we are only 18,000 strong and my department is currently way overloaded with work and we are three PMs short with no chance of hiring. I hope Janet will be a true champion for all of us.
After eliminating the Diversity and Inclusion Office, she told employees to rat out colleagues who changed contract descriptions and threatened them with “adverse consequences” if they didn’t. I hope she’ll be a champion, too, but that doesn’t seem like a good track record.
In her defense she was specifically ordered to shut down the DEI office and the words about reporting on co-workers was verbatim instructions from the White House. If she refused to do this she’d have been fired and replaced with someone who would.
DOGEbags running rampant. No one is safe.
