NASA KSC Workforce Transformation (Layoff) Update
Keith’s note: this “KSC Updates On Workforce Transformation” was sent to NASA KSC Employees: “As our Acting Administrator, Janet, has shared, our Agency and Center are supporting important and ambitious work, and we are committed to carrying out the President’s vision for maintaining American leadership in space. That vision establishes a new set of priorities, goals, and resources for the Agency.” (more below)
I understand that times of change are unsettling, and many of you have questions about how the Agency’s transformation will impact you, our Center, programs, and workforce. Agency and Center leaders have been meeting with supervisors regularly, so please utilize them and your extended management team as a resource for up-to date information. Additionally, we will soon be hosting a Center-wide employee information session, which will foeus on workforce restructuring, and we invite you to submit* questions hers.
The Ageney also has developed a number of informational resources for civil servants regarding the separation incentives. These include retirement and separation seminars offered by the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, as well as the NASA DRP and VERA and VSIP pages on Inside NASA, which offer more information about opportunities available for eligible employees.
Kennedy Space Center has served the Nation as the launching point for some of humanity’s greatest achievements, and you are part of that illustrious story. For more than six decades, we have responded to change, ushering in opportunities for new ambitions and paving the way for new discoveries. As we work to align our workforce and resources with evolving priorities, this Center will continue to play a critical role in supporting the Nation’s access to space. I’d like to thank you again for your dedication and excellence that is constantly on display at Kennedy Space Center. From building the rocket that will take the next humans to the Moon and ensuring the safety of our crews in low-Earth orbit, to developing the technologies that facilitate off-planet exploration and enabling the busiest launch cadence in the world – it’s clear that our people are the driving force behind everything we achieve, and I am extremely grateful for everyone’s contributions.
Fortune Favors the Bold,

It’s telling that the email closes with “fortune favors the bold” rather than the more historically grounded “fortune favors the brave.” Boldness without courage is a sycophantic wrecking ball, smashing through norms and dissent to please power, not serve a purpose. Under the once-revered NASA vector, bravery appears in short supply at the top.
