NASA Watch is on Hiatus

Keith’s note: NASA Watch is (more or less) on hiatus until 2 Jan 2013. Happy holidays.
If you are reading this over the holidays, then shame on you – unless you are a NASA contractor employee. If so, you have reason to be checking on the news. With the collapse of the budget deal with Congress, your government has failed you – and it looks like the fiscal cliff is something to really worry about. As we all know, when budget issues like this arise, NASA contractor employees are the first to feel it. This is completely above Charlie Bolden’s pay grade and he has little (if any) flexibility as to how he deals with this.

Why Keith, I see you have adopted the civil servant schedule of the agency you so rile against.  I can understand how you need a week away from typing (and sniping).  Hopefully this week will leave you exhausted and less hostile!

Happy New Year (I do not think that offends anyone. Well, maybe the Chinese). I will have to think about my post next year. I mean, since we borrow most of our money from them, essentially, they pay my salary. Will endeavor not to piss off either you or the bosses next year.

Well, if you stop reading NASA Watch then you will be spared all of my horrible commentary.  You only have yourself to blame by exposing yourself to it.

I could stop reading! It’s like NASCAR races, we just can’t stop waiting for accidents!  Have a blessed time off. Hope someone gives you Rosetta Stone Mandarin for Xmas!

I don’t why people think that the Chinese are the largest purchasers of America’s debt when the Federal Reserve and other federal agencies like Social Security are far and away the largest owners. Oh well, I am glad I for the Christmas break anyway. Merry Christmas everyone!

Good point, but they are (by aggregate, per country) the largest foreign purchaser. However as the world’s #2 economy that only makes sense.

I doubt NASA civil servants are the only white collar professionals that save up their leave for Christmas vacation.

I notice that you misquoted Keith, was that done intentionally to better suit your diatribe?

Your version: “NASA Watch is on hiatus”

Actual Keith’s note: “NASA Watch is (more or less) on hiatus”

You may have noticed that articles continue to be posted by Keith and Marc.  And also that some of us are not heeding Keith’s admonition to take time off from talking about space during the holidays 🙂

Merry Christmas everyone!  This is the time to celebrate our blessings with family and friends!!  Wishing you all the best in 2013 too!  … the rest will take care of itself in due time.

Hopefully the chutes deploy as we go over the cliff.
The Constitution is one on side.  The Bill of Rights is on the other side.  And this country is going down between the two!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years Keith and Nasa Watchers 🙂

As a NASA contractor, I will be working over the holidays and checking the news every day.  While no layoffs will begin right away, I heard on the radio that OMB’s instructions to NASA for the Washington area are no civil service layoffs, but 1,500 contractor layoffs.  Happy New Year 🙁

“no civil service layoffs, but 1,500 contractor layoffs”
No real surprise there, given the personnel changes at the end of Shuttle.

My my… Fiscal cliff, IRS warnings, war, crazies shooting, sequestration, no shuttle, layoffs, space leadership lost in space, uncertainty of the masses… all just another year in life, but…

Omg, the Mayans were apparently right seeing NASAWatch suspend on 12/21/12.   We should have realized, given the Mayan’s passion for astronomy and the heavens, that even 5,000 years ago they’d be concerned about the end of NASA and base their calendar cycle on it.

Then again, maybe it’s looking like it’s just a Mayan calendar roll-over and it that NASAWatch will simply recycle and be around for another 5,000+ years.

Are you up for another 5,000 Keith?

Wishing NASA a renewed focus on difficult challenges couples with many successes in the upcoming year.  If it was easy, it wouldn’t be an accomplishment.  God Bless the USA!

For someone on hiatus, you’re sure working hard.

Why shame on anyone for posting unless they are a contractor?  Just because a lot of people save up their leave to take now doesn’t mean NASA is closed and none of us are working!  Today is a regular business day here (just a lot less people around).
